Screening and assessment are critical components of effective Assessment Centers. Done well, the process engages youth and families to collaboratively identify strengths, develop an understanding of needs, and inform connection to community resources.

This session is designed to help Centers develop a working understanding of the screening and assessment standards outlined in the Framework and how those standards are operationalized in practice, including how to align screening and assessment to the Center's target population and role in the community, incorporate validated instruments into a broader engagement process, and coordinate across systems to share information, avoid duplication, and protect youth and families from deeper system involvement.
