  • Understand the importance of identifying and addressing suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs)

  • Gain knowledge about suicide screening tools and best practices

This live, online training is the first session in a two-part series focused on youth suicide prevention. Participants will explore the risk and protective factors for youth suicide, starting with foundational knowledge about suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The session will also include a review of best practices and tools for effective suicide screening.

About the Presenter:
Kathleen Kemp, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School and Research Psychologist with Rhode Island Hospital. She also serves as the Director of the Rhode Island Family Court Mental Health Clinic. Dr. Kemp has extensive expertise in suicide prevention and intervention for youth involved in the juvenile legal and child welfare systems. She has received multiple NIH grant awards and has conducted numerous trainings with clinical and non-clinical staff on suicide prevention.
